I used to carry an unopened bottle of whiskey in my “ emergency box “. Along with sardines, potted meat, spam etc.
When that water goes out there is not a thing you can do. Got caught like that behind Timbalier Island when I was about 12 years old. We were in a ten foot aluminum boat with a five HP motor. Dragging the boat and sticking fish like crazy. We had a hundred or more flounders and all of a sudden we were stuck. We dragged that boat and those fish for hours.
When we got back to the houseboat my Momma fed us then made us clean and ice all of those fish. Before we went to sleep. She was worried about my friend because he was a city slicker.

yea, we had plenty of snacks, plenty of battery power for the music and a half a handle of Titos left.
It was honestly a miscalculation of about 15 mins. We were just so far back in there and the area was not consistent, we had to just follow our train in once it was dark. Plus, the channel getting back into Cudjoe bay is very narrow and lined with poles. Had to take that ride in very slow and find each pole on the GPS then locate it with a light. Just extra careful.
We had 30" of water going in and the tide swing was -12" or so. My boat can float in 18" but just barely. Bottom is coral over there so we just waited it out.
IT honestly was not that bad. Just 4 of us on the boat and plenty of time to relax.
