Paige,

Sorry your doctor friend keeps making the excuse that he's "on call" to get out of doing stuff with you.

sincerely,

Really though, the biggest worry is hoping our kids get to know their dad since he won't be around a lot. I know that's going to stress me out the most in the future.

Imagine how it is when both parents are doctors? We have a couple husband/wife duos here and I don't know how they do it
Yeah, it takes a lot of work to coordinate that.

I've talked with some of the surgeons(the non a-hole ones...they do exist) and that is one thing they talk about a lot...not having enough time with their families.

He's never said he's on call and you don't know what you're talking about

The neurosurgeon I worked for made his own schedule which was a regular weekday work schedule

So he never went to the hospitals early in the am or after his office hours to see his patients?

We have specialists here that are in their clinics all day seeing patients and then come and spend a good bit of time in the evening seeing consults at the hospital. Our pediatric pulmonologist is like that. I've seen him on our floor until 11 pm sometimes.

Hello people.

Been a weird day. Had to go face to face with my boss and say I was leaving. Being an adult is not very fun

He had to understand though right?

I picked up some divine reserve 15 this morning. It will probably sell out quickly.

Nurse, why do you have to phrase things in such a condescending way?

He did three surgeries a day Tuesday to Thursday. Made rounds after. Then on clinic days which was Monday and Friday, he made rounds before and was off at 5

But like I said he was older and established. He didn't always have it that good I'm sure

Did you get a new gig or win the lottery? Either way, congrats.

Agreed.

I'm giving a talk at 12. I fricking hate public speaking and one of the women in the audience is awesome at it. I wish.

Wasn't trying to....was just curious.

Well that's the key. You don't become a doctor because you want lots of free time. You basically have none or little until you are more established. I have lots of respect for doctors. Takes a special person to take all that on.

are you confident/knowledgeable about what you are talking about?

will the audience know what you are talking about?
