Getting our security system installed tomorrow. Advice?

If it's not all wireless, go through every room in your home checking lights and outlets to make sure they work.

Also check the roof above any window where they drilled vertically through the top of the window casing to feed the wire to the attic. They are notorious for drilling through the roof in these areas.

I've been involved with security systems, aluminum porch roofs and awnings being installed in a finished home. When things don't work because they drilled through a wire in the wall, it's oh well if they even tell you.
Put one guy on the spot while meeting for an estimate, he flat out said that's part of business, but is on the owner. She freaked!

Go wireless and get the app so you can control it from your phone and you can also get text messages everytime its armed, disarmed or is set off

Unless the house was prewired during construction I would go the wireless route myself like Simplisafe.

Make sure it's not the day a new black neighbor is moving in. They might take it personally. (See Modern Family, S.9, E.8)
