Sounds typical for a three year old. Lack of vegetables won't kill him. Stop focusing on vegetables. Life is too short.

Adding: keep focusing on his eating habits/not eating vegetables may lead to an eating disorder in the future.

Please tell me you didn't withhold food for 24 hours, only allowing him to have milk!!! This is abuse if true.

Have a meal with some slightly older kids who eat veggies. Then tell your kid he can't have any because they are for big boys.

Any tips?
Yeah, don't care about it. Vegetables actually aren't that important - especially if he's eating high quality protein and fat.

Doctors will tell you not to worry about it

Mine was a very picky eater until about 15 but now he'll eat anything. I never forced the issue because I'm picky too and wouldn't want anyone making me eat stuff that tasted or felt bad

He's over 6 feet tall, smart and thin. So lack of vegetables didn't have any detrimental effects on his development

This advice makes me wonder if you and TideSaint have kids.

I have 3.

My oldest is 12 and is 5'6" and weighs 125 pounds. He was just named league MVP for his baseball league.

My middle child is 11 and wants to become a chemical engineer.

My daughter is 9 and is one of the best softball players in her league.

All three do very, very well in school.

They eat what we put on the table regardless of whether they like it or not. They do what we say because they respect our authority. They don't get spanked for not eating vegetables or whatever, but they do know that if they want to play their Xbox, PS4, tablet, cellphone, etc. they have to finish their food.

Mine weren't.

Maybe because we didn't give in when they showed the first sign of resistance.

this really has no foreshadowing on him listening to us when he's older and can comprehend better, because he listens very well now on all things but this.

Yeah right.

This must be your first child.

The reason they often don't eat their greens could be that the bitter notes in them are amplified by so many tastebuds. And as we keep pairing flavours with experiences and forming prejudices, by the time children's palates are more accepting of vegetable flavours they are negatively associated with parental nagging – an altogether different mood to that of the fun occasions when sweet treats are bestowed.

Just give him some vitamins. Not many kids like vegetables. He will when he gets older.

Mine gets his weekly dose of veggies in his spaghetti and meat sauce. I use the food processor to chop up mushrooms, squash, zucchini, and spinach and he has no idea.

The only veggie that he willingly eats is raw baby carrots.

That's easy. Beat them unmercifully until they eat their vegetables with a smile.

What the frack is wrong with you people?
I am 36, with three daughters: 12, 11, & 9.
My 9 year old would live off chicken nuggets & french fries if I let her, but I don't let her.
My daughters eat broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce, cabbage, brussell sprouts, corn, carrots, zucchini, squash, potatoes, tomatoes, onion, cucumber, mushrooms, olives, banana peppers, bell peppers, sweet peppers, green beans, asparagus, snow peas, English and sweet peas.

In ancient Sparta, they would throw the weak kids off a cliff. Try that.

Also, he can get many of the same nutrients from fruit. Turning meal time into a battle of wills is not the point. Just put whatever you are serving on the table with a plate of fruit for everyone to enjoy. He will eat or not and will be fine. I know it's hard!! I hated veggies when I was young, they literally made me gag.

Oh, frick off. He said they offered the boy food in the form of vegetables and he chose not to eat. No 3 year old is going to chose to starve himself to the point of physical harm.
