Jesse Matthews today plead guilty to causing the deaths* of two young women in Virginia (one at VA Tech and the other at UVA). He was given a life sentence with no chance of parole. His family's spokesman, a Reverend Louie Carr Jr. commented today on the case and the verdict.

According to Reverend Carr speaking about Matthews, “It is difficult for us to understand how a gentle soul transformed into this individual.”

frick you Reverend Carr. Wrong words at the wrong time.

* And plead guilty to "intent to defile" in both cases as well.

Calling a predator like this trash a gentle soul should've earned the rev a punch in the mouth.

Of course, you leave off the beginning of the quote...just trying to stoke the fires, I see.

quote:

“We want to express to the Harringtons and the Grahams our sorrow for what our family member chose to do to your duaghters,”

misspelling of "daughters" is from the article.

He said the gentle soul TRANSFORMED INTO THIS INDIVIDUAL. That means he acknowledged that he was not a gentle soul any more.

Geez you guys are always looking to piss and moan about every damn thing.

All this PC shite and etc will be done and over with in a matter of years when everyone gets tired of hearing it and giving chances.

What does anything in this article or thread have to do with "PC shite"?

For a spokesman to use that sentence is a veiled attempt to transfer or dodge responsibility.

Whether anyone wants to accept this or not is their problem, I didn't know the race of anyone involved with this crime when I read the Reverend's statement and once I read it I was pissed at it.

The correct statement by the Reverend would stop with sympathy for the victims and their families and loved ones and possibly an apology to all the LEOs/court folks who had to make these heinous events part of their lives. No description or statement about the soulless bastard who callously hunted, raped and killed innocents is appropriate.

Judges pronouncing death sentences say the only correct statement:

May the Lord have mercy on your soul.

He certainly did not apologize in court today for his actions when he had the opportunity.
