gas station purchases

Why do people buy so much shite at gas stations? Is this the shear epitome of trash? Card machine was broken at the pump so went inside to pay; obese woman in front of me bought $47 in junk food; multiple bags of chips, pickles, candy, a few scratch offs then $2 in gas (which was paid for in nickles). This is exactly why poor people stay poor.

I stood behind a customer once as she talked on her cell phone which was held in her manicured fingertips. She was dressed to go to the club. As she attempted to pay the cashier actually offered advice on how to better utilize her purchasing power. No groceries were purchased but she spent $35 on chips and flavored tea
