Just a tip, you are not going to enjoy changing those. There's a reason no one carries them.

Idk who would have them, but I had one break a while back and called Lafayette Overhead Door and it was only like $75 to replace and that included labor. I know you're in BR, but that seemed very reasonable to me.

Is it that bad?
I'm handy, just can't justify giving 450 to replace 50 dollar springs

I'm pretty handy too, but I took a look at the set up and decided I didn't wanna f with it. When they have me the invoice, I had reverse sticker shock

Eta: mine has 2 springs and only 1 broke. Don't know if that makes a difference or not.

CAUTION! Replacing garage door torsion springs is dangerous because the springs are under tension. If you do not use the right tools and follow safe procedures, you could lose hands, limbs or even your life. You could also damage property. We want your business, but not at the expense of your well being. Doing the job right is your responsibility. If you have any doubts about your ability to safely change your springs, we recommend you hire a professional to repair your garage door. Safety First! Then work.

It didn't cost me much to have someone else do it, money well spent after watching them do it.

I had mine replaced about a year ago and watched the guy do the work. He had specialized tools and knew what he was doing. I would not attempt it myself.

We had Overhead Door come replace one of the two we have on a door and it wasn't near 450$, it's been a couple of years so I don't remember.
To the OP, I'm handy too, but you can have that job.

I have done it with pipe wrenches and two people taking turns turning it to get the tension to where it needed to be but yea its a PITA.

find out the brand of garage door that you have and any dealer of that brand should be able to get you parts for it...

I increased the tension on one of mine a while back and have to say, it wasn't difficult, but is pretty dangerous and stressful...

$ 150-$200 max. I recently closed my Garage Door business.I was talked into selling a pair to a man that claimed he put in more than he could count. I assisted the paramedic's getting him untangled and rushed to the hospital.

It's not rocket science, but I hope you know what your doing and have the tools.

And Southeast Door is the last place to call.
Pipe wrenches is a great way to ruin the Torsion bar. If it never breaks again your ok. But the teeth marks will prevent the spring from sliding off for replacement.

This

Garage Door Springs should have the following warning written on them:
Don't frick With Me
That way Gumpers can still hurt themselves on them (illiteracy never sleeps).
