Man the whole area looks like its buckling also. Is something wedged in the gap?

If it is floating floor take your foot and kick the one piece into the other one. If it is glued down then it is a lot harder to fix. Wood will swell and shrink with the weather. I have been around the flooring buisness my whole life. I have used this method to fix this same issue many times.

This. I have real wood and my floors and crown moulding get gaps during the winter. Cabinets also separate from the walls. All were installed mid summer in high temp/high humidity so in the winter there are gaps everywhere.

Also check for a leak near the area because it looks like the layers of wood may be separating.

Regardless, that's an incorrect installation. Expansion and contraction gaps should not be that big. It looks like the bird were not trimmed properly during install.

I've seen lumber liquidator floor do that one time. They sent a customer flooring that was 6 months different on mill dates and the ends didn't set in the lock system right. It would get worse and better depending on the seasons, like wood does.

You could be correct because those look like locking boards . Although water could cause the gaps to get larger by breaking the bond from the glue and joint sealant.
