The Advocate Crime Blotter 11/25/2014

quote:

Baton Rouge Police say a man robbed two women at knife point after confronting one of the women in the parking lot outside her apartment early Tuesday morning.
Travis Davis, 35, approached the first woman in a parking lot at a Highland Road apartment complex at around 2:30 a.m., according to the affidavit of probable cause. With a knife drawn, Davis ordered her to lead him into her apartment, where a second woman was inside, the affidavit says.
Davis ordered both woman to lie on the floor, stole various electronics while threatening to “blow their heads off,” and briefly fondled one of the woman after forcing her to pull her pants down, the affidavit says.
He then had one of the women drive him a short distance, but within an hour police spotted and arrested him while he was riding in a car, according to the affidavit.
Davis, of 9115 Dancy Ave., Baton Rouge, was booked into Parish Prison Tuesday on counts of armed robbery, false imprisonment, second-degree kidnapping and simple battery.

I hate to blame women, but why is any woman alone outside in a parking lot at 2:30 in the morning? It's so foolish and obvious.

I was wondering that. There are not a whole lot of apartment complexes on Highland. 3235, 5116, and 5151 come to mind.

Part of why I'm asking. 3235 is gated and quite secure. The others not so much. But damn this bothers me with daughters who will attend LSU in a few years( obligatory: if they don't get knocked up and go to BRCC).

No clue, but Highland is a very long road. There are many more than these three

Right but it was BRPD. I think their jurisdiction doesn't go south of Staring. Also, most of the places you're thinking of are condo units, not apartments. Just curious here b/c the media likes to frick with us and won't tell us what we all are wondering here.

I would be surprised if the description was different for condo/apartment/multiunit house.

Me too. Wondered the same thing about the newer condos down the hole by LSU Ave and thos type developments. There's an older established Condo complex south of Staring but not sure exactly where BRPD cuts off. That one came to mind as well b/c it's nice and gated.
Basically I want to know if this was a gated community or not.
