My grandmother passed away 2 years ago. Several of my friends knew her but none of them knew her very well. I was really disappointed that not a single one of my friends showed up for the services.

You should at least go, be there for your friend if he is a good friend. If the wife wants to go for your friend, then you should bring the family too.
