Aside from these places being stupid expensive, anything I should know about them going in? Also, what are some good ones in the Metairie area? He goes to one in Covington and yea, not doing that.

It's a great way to meet people. I know nothing about the routines, though.

your first month should focus on learning the right way to do the reps or you will suffer serious injuries

Take it from somebody who seriously fricked their back up... Don't fricking do crossfit! It's not worth it. Find another way to excercise.

Don't do it. They take classics olympic lifts and frick it up by making the participant do an unnecessary amount of reps. For example, they'll make you do 5 sets of 10 reps on power clean at light weight. That's not meant to be done that way. They preach endurance, power and speed and throw technique to the wind.

Well, you are already talking about crossfit to complete strangers, so you have rule #1 well in hand.

As with any cult, you must be raped in. You can leave anytime, but you have to be raped out.

There's nothing wrong with crossfit as long as you're joining it to get in shape or just actually work out. I started while still in the military and have been doing it for about 6 years and i'm not a douche that posts on FB about it at all. I've never once been injured or had to take time off. Couple friends of mine have lost 40+ pounds doing it. The OT is right about it being fricking cultish and full of fricking douchebags. The worst is when the couples get into it together and become obsessed and constantly post themselves doing handstands and shite in random places just to post it all over FB. That gets pretty fricking annoying.

As long as you're not one of these dweebs that does crossfit for 2 months, and then decides you're going to open "box" and do handstands everywhere and shite then you should be cool. Don't get pressured into buying the newest pairs of Nanos and Metcons just because they come out. It's all the same shite.

I see you've already learned that the OT is full of lazy pieces of shite that will find any excuse to shite on something they've never done simply because they're too big of pussies to do it.
