Friday update:
quote:
THERE IS A HIGH RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS FOR FAR SOUTHEAST IOWA...WEST-CENTRAL ILLINOIS...FAR NORTHEAST MISSOURI AND IN PARTS OF EASTERN ARKANSAS...NORTHERN MISSISSIPPI...AND SOUTHWESTERN TENNESSEE... ...SUMMARY... A severe weather outbreak appears increasingly likely, centered on this afternoon and evening, across a large portion of the Mississippi Valley. At least a few long-track, strong to potentially violent tornadoes are probable, particularly over portions of the Mid-Mississippi Valley to the Mid-South. Swaths of intense damaging wind gusts along with very large hail are expected as well.
Thursday update summary:
quote:
.SUMMARY... Intense and widespread severe thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon into the overnight hours across portions of the Middle Mississippi Valley and Mid-South vicinity, eastward to the Lower Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. Intense, damaging gusts and several tornadoes (some strong and long-track) are expected. ...A regional outbreak of severe storms is expected on Friday across parts of the Mid-Mississippi Valley and also into the Mid-South...
Wednesday notes...
quote:
...THERE IS AN ENHANCED RISK OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE MID-MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TO THE MID-SOUTH... ...SUMMARY... Potentially intense and widespread severe thunderstorms are expected Friday afternoon into the overnight hours across portions of the Middle Mississippi Valley and Mid-South vicinity, eastward to the Lower Ohio and Tennessee Valleys. Damaging gusts and tornadoes will be the main hazards with this activity. ...Arklatex to the Mid-MS Valley and eastward to the OH/TN Valleys... Widespread, regional episode of severe thunderstorms is possible on Friday.
Looks to be a very large area to be affected.
Hopefully it is nothing more than a widespread round of thunderstorms and not some super outbreak that sends the storm chasers everywhere...

The AccuWeather forecast team raised Friday’s risk of severe weather from moderate to a high level prior to the middle of the week, a sign of growing concern for the potential damage the storms could cause.
"While all modes of severe weather are likely during Friday's outbreak, there is a likelihood of widespread damaging winds from the storm with at least several tornadoes likely to be on the ground," AccuWeather Chief On-Air Meteorologist Bernie Rayno said.

Right now it looks to be a potent line, so at least you'll be able to plan accordingly and not have a drawn out setup. Not one you want to be in the woods for, though, when it does blow through.

They've got a huge area highlighted but they're probably going to narrow it down to the northern and southern parts of it for the highest risk. Looks like it's going to more of a bimodal distribution of severe weather with a derecho forming in Iowa with isolated stuff down towards the northern delta/Memphis where forcing will be weaker.
