Anyone know the time frame and what roads will be closed?

Have been searching all morning. Trying to inform some out of towners

Not like they will block off the entire quarter. Usually just Decatur to bourbon.

That's what I figured. They are driving from Oklahoma so to the other poster who assumes, why would they stop at airport?

Who would actually drive in the FQ?

I've particularly never understood why cars that weren't taxis/ubers were driving on roads crossing bourbon at night. Sounds like the dumbest thing ever.

Sometimes you have to valet the car at a hotel. I have done several times and it is a horrific experience. Might be worth it to park on Canal and just have it towed, pick it up later.

Well considering the French quarter is a functioning neighborhood with people that live and work there, sometimes you don't have a choice but to cross certain streets.

I agree with your synopsis, but if you live in the quarter you probably have a better plan than crossing Bourbon on friday/Saturday night.

Closing the FQ to vehicles all the time would be a a nice first step in seriously committing to making New Orleans a totally walkable city.

days ago, but last i read they were just shutting bourbon down from traffic. no the whole quarter. parking garages would lose a lot of revenue if that were the case.

I think this is a terrible idea. Imagine getting to the Royal Sonesta during Mardi Gras with a week of luggage.

Last year the entire quarter (South of Rampart) was closed to everything but taxi/limo traffic at night.

Bourbon is shut down to cross thru traffic. So the intersections on Royal and Dauphine will be blocked. Decatur, Chartres, Royal, Dauphine, Burgundy running from Canal to Esplanade should be open.

Decatur will be a mess with the setup by Jax. Gotta drive down there later, prepared for delays.

I think a simple solution would be the hotel to provide a service for visitors either on canal or rampart.

In theory I get your idea, but it really is a horrible one. It would be a business killer and a bitch for us that live and work down there.

Probably 50% of the quarter could be closed off to vehicle traffic. The rest is no different than Marigny for most of the year.

I do agree with DC that it could make the quarter better.

Yeah, no

You don't realize how many people live in the quarter as well.
When I lived on the 1200 block of bourbon there was a school directly behind me and every weekday there was a car line to pick up and drop off kids.
