A former White House adviser has revealed the terrifying scale of North Korea's devastating plans to invade the South.

Victor Cha has outlined the chilling scope of Pyongyang's combat capabilities in his book the Impossible State, which include bombardments of shells, mustard gas attacks and hundreds of thousands of fatalities.

quote:

Mr Cha served as Director for Asian Affairs at the National Security Council from 2004 to 2007 and is an expert on affairs in South and North Korea.

In his novel he predicts that if tensions erupted the North would shell its neighbour at the rate of 500,000 per hour, rising the South's capital of Seoul to the ground.

The bombardment would come after special forces made a series of air landings, sabotaging power stations and other points of strategic importance, reports the Daily Star.

I am more worried about a rainy weekend than NK attempting to invade SK.

Let them do it. The U.S. should stay out of it.

I doubt they try it. But if they did, we'd have no choice but to get involved.

Basically that means if anyone attacks South Korea, we will view that as an attack on us as well.

Why would you think that?

NK will do some damage at the beginning but the split second they start lobbing shells southward, their location will be tagged and destroyed. NK is led by a loon bird but he isn't going to commit regime suicide. The ROK with or without the U.S. would mop the floor with the NK dead

According to this former WH aid, the South and the U.S. would win this hypothetical war but it would take 4 to 6 months to do so.

Well, I agree with the WH aide. It shouldn't take much time at all. Lil Kim isn't going to put his life on the line like that though. He knows if he did such a stupid thing, the ROK would hunt his fat arse down and put two into his fat skull.

Without any US help I think NK could win, but USA has already committed itself to helping which sucks because now we will never get to see this war.

Idk why people here think NK is some shitty country with old military tech and would be wiped out with out a problem. They take propaganda to whole new level with their own people, im pretty sure they are smart enough to show the rest of the world exactly what they want us to see. I bet they have a lot of high tech weaponry and have planned for damn near every sort of counter attack possible. I agree with the article and think they have a massive underground tunnel system allowing them to continue operations and avoid direct missile attacks to supply lines.

I don't think the article or the book said anything about anyone being afraid of North Korea.

Yeah, they're called trigger forces. That was my Uncle's last posting before retiring as a Lt. Col.

He has no worries about North Korea being able to invade the South and win. They would lose badly, but Seoul would be wiped off the map -- if the North Koreans don't manage to accidentally bombard Pyongyang.

I think that's why this Korean expert says he thinks it would take 4-6 months for us to win a war against the North. Sadly, before it was over, this war would leave a good portion of the Korean peninsula in ruins, including Seoul being pretty much wiped out.
