Wilkins contends that the wages she received in a workweek, divided by the number of hours she worked, did not add up to at least $7.25, the federal and state minimum wage.

quote:

Wilkins also contends that she was not paid the standard overtime rate, which is one and a half times the regular hourly rate. The team also did not pay her for time spent making social media posts related to her job as a cheerleader, something she had been instructed to do, the suit states.

quote:

The Dallas Cowboys paid a cheerleader less than half what the team's mascot, Rowdy, made but failed to pay her all of what she was owed, she states in a lawsuit against the team.

quote:

Rowdy made about $25 an hour, or $65,000 a year, the suit says. Wilkins says she was paid $5,817.99 the year she joined the team and $16,516.01 in 2016, the year before she left the team for an unstated reason.

That is from the link, even ESPN said it too. Supposedly that is what is in the lawsuit

If you do the math and worked 40 hrs a week for 52 weeks, it's $52,000

I'm sure it can vary for a professional mascot.
It's not he is in the office 9-5 like a SportsCenter commercial.

Was she informed in advance that there was going to be any math?

If the NFL were smart they would get rid of ALL cheerleading squads and this issue will go away.

They are not needed and in reality they are more of a liability than an asset in today’s climate.

Rowdy makes them Boys score more touchdowns, what has this dumb count ever done.

She probably doesn't even know what a first down is

Sure, but when you are converting hourly wage to a yearly number, you don't include overtime. You base it on 2080 working hours in a year.

Technically, if I made $25/hr, I could say I make $218,400 per year by their logic.

That is exactly what is about to happen. I bet then they will sue for termination or attempt unemployment.

Im wondering if he has another job within the organization or the mascot doesn't have to practice.

Also, would love a countersuit from the Cowboys if she used the title as "Cowboys Cheerleader" for profit in a dancing company.

I highly doubt they are paying a mascot to work 40 hours a week, 52 weeks out the year, for a sport that is only from August to February.

ETA: And the games are only one day out the week.

Is she contending that NFL cheerleaders work more than 40 hours per week specifically dedicated to cheerleading?

There's no way that's correct, right?

I doubt that as well, but if she was required to work for any type of team function, then I would count those hours. In that case, maybe I could see a random week here or there counting. That being said, that should be pretty easily to calculate and see if they were stiffed or not. Bringing in the Mascot's wage is stupid and has no bearing on the matter at hand.
