Great piece from the NYTimes about true American patriots. Hopefully this can make its way to elementary and high school history books in the near future.

happy Memorial Day and a special thanks to those true American patriots that gave their lives for freedoms and liberties that they were denied.

Sorry I accidentally opened this thread.

Don't recommend it to anyone else.

Singular motive as usual, I'm sure.

It's pretty fricking easy for you to say that as someone who has the privilege of not having to think about your race and deal with racism on a daily basis.

If true, I agree. And not because of any race angle, just due to history itself.

Why the frick do people say "Happy Memorial Day?"

It's a day of rememberance and nothing to be happy about. Is it because you get the day off? You know nothing about Memorial Day.

bullshite.

Am I celebrating that my brother was killed nearly 25 years ago in the Gulf War?

frick no.

Rememberance =/= Celebration

..and for you to try and make this a race issue makes you an ultimate POS.

I mourn their deaths, as they are the results of ignorance and hatred.

I agree, friend

This year my family remembered our veterans by BBQing, reminiscing about the past, telling John Nash stories, drinking, target shooting, fishing, drinking, blaming minorities for the country going to shite and me feeling up my cousin's gf...

all in honor of those that have served.. I promise you that

Of course this a-hole puts his racial agenda obsession above the politically neutral purpose of honoring ALL this country's war dead today.
