For those working downtown Houston Wed and Thurs this week - Street Closures

The president is coming in town and will be staying at the Crowne Plaza at 1700 Smith St. See below for street closures

This will have an affect on traffic coming into downtown, especially the southwestern side close to midtown, so please factor this into your travel tomorrow.

Houston Public Works with the authority of Houston Police Department will close the streets below to all traffic (vehicle and pedestrian) from north of Main Street at Sunset Boulevard to Main at Bissonnet for approximately 2 hours from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 9.

Houston Police officers and the Mobility Response Unit will assist with the traffic flow.

The METRO Rail will be closed for approximately 10 minutes in both directions, between Main at Sunset Boulevard to Main at Wheeler Avenue.

Access to all buildings and hospitals in the Medical Center and Rice University will be via Fannin Street (southbound and northbound lanes).

To access the Medical Center or Rice University traveling east on Bissonnet, go south on Mandell Street to Rice Boulevard or Sunset Boulevard to Main Street.

Street closures:

Main/Sunset Boulevard (all north and south lanes)

Hermann Park Drive (west and east) at Fannin Street

Hermann Drive at Fannin Street

Ewing at Main Street

Main Street at Bissonnet (all north and south lanes)

Bissonnet at Main Street (west side of Main)

Montrose Boulevard (all north and south lanes) at Berthea Street

Bayard at Berthea Street

Bissonnet (all west and east lanes) at Yoakum Boulevard

METRO Rail (Main at Sunset Boulevard to Main at Wheeler) for approximately 10 minutes.

So this should only impact late afternoon traffic tomorrow?

Starting at 2 pm tomorrow afternoon, they are blocking off those roads and it'll last until 10 am Thursday morning.
