Yup. Tonight makes me feel like my entire military career had no purpose.

Wasn't there, but have friends of our children that served there as well as we supported through a local volunteer organization the soldiers in the 101st Airborne up in Clarksville (like an "Adopt a Soldier Program" where we hosted events, helped families/spouses etc., wrote/messaged the soldiers etc.)

For all in this thread that served in Afghanistan, thank you for your sacrifices and service. I can't imagine how it feels to you right now watching what's going on over there.

Kandahar 2004

When we got there a marine unit was leaving. They borrowed our equipment to dig a giant hole. They dumped hundreds of brand new 36” Super Swamper tires in that hole and buried them. The Army was not authorized to use those types of tires so they just buried them
Watched a bunch of baws break down over that trying to figure out how to get those home to put on their personal vehicle

Never cared for sand and that place made me hate it even more. It was like brown baby powder

You did your job. Not your fault our government failed. Also not your fault the Afghan people did not want to fight for their freedom.

The past 48 hours I’ve had a hard time wrestling with this. My brothers who didn’t make it home, the families destroyed, my brothers who have trouble functioning in a normal society now due to mental and physical issues, the ones who’ve done the unthinkable and committed suicide, my blood spilled over there, what was it for. I’m not to tough or proud to say that I was honestly in tears think of this the past few days. Everything all of us in this thread and our brothers gave was all for naught.
