It was classic Louisiana: Coffee cup tossed to ground and coffee puddle at baggage claim. People kicking said cup and walking in puddle. No staff around to clean it. Wait 30 minutes for luggage to hit the carousel.

Go to step onto the shuttle bus outside and am accosted by a homeless person. I didn’t know they frequent the airport now too.

Next, I’m driving home down I-10 only to get my doors blown off by a Dodge Charger revving his engine like a boss.

And tonight as I lay down my weary head, I am serenaded by the screeching of tires and ambulance sirens.

Ahhhh Louisiana. How I’ve missed you.

I've always had great experiences at the new MSY.

What an ungrateful attitude. The sheer luck alone that you didn’t get shot on the interstate should be enough to put you in a good mood.

Last time I flew in we had to wait over an hour for our bags to hit baggage claim. Last thing you want after flying half way across the country is to have to wait on baggage claim.

It’s more a commentary of this state.

Every time I visit another locale and return to Louisiana, I ask myself why do I stay here. The crime is the big kicker. But alas, I have reasons I cannot drag up and leave like I’d want to.

There was a homeless man sleeping in the vestibule when I left MSY last time. Disgusting

New MSY is very nice, but horribly inefficient. I live closer to BTR but I used to take MSY more. Now I only use BTR.

Isn't it depressing to fly into MSY after vacation? I hate it every time. And in the summer, that heat and humidity can knock you down. Plus all the culture. Yack!

Don’t whine about the state and then talk about how great a game in Tiger Stadium is. You can’t have both.

True.

But blame this on the airlines for contracting out loading and unloading the baggage and not providing any benefits or even decent pay for the backbreaking work that requires. I was looking for a temp job right when I got out of the Army before I went to college and applied to one of the positions at MSY and the pay was like $10/hr. with no committed days off or schedule. Don't blame anyone who doesn't want to do that job because as soon as I heard that I said "thanks for your time" and walked out.

Sounds like you live in the wrong part of Louisiana.

MSY is by far, consistently, the slowest baggage claim experience anywhere in the world. It's incredible how reliable that experience is.

You should’ve seen the frickin clownshow they had going on this past Friday. Security took almost 2 hours. Door was closed to my flight when we got there and had to beg them to let us on. Long term and short term garages both full.

Unfortunately, litter and blight are everywhere. There is no sense of pride or community in most areas of our state. That's why people litter and don't give a shiat.
