Takes way longer than swiping. You have to leave your card in the scanner for 10-20 seconds. Thats 10-20 seconds longer im waiting for my taco bell.

You could always not be poor and not have to charge the items you want to buy... like a $4.97 meal...

We're moving backwards. Finland has been doing it right for about 20 years now.

Not to mention the extreme security risk for your personal info.

My problem is I swipe first, then the machine yells at me to insert the card. Annoying.

Chip cards are way harder to hack. Did you complain after hackers stole all those cc numbers from Target, Home Depot, etc? They have been used outside the US for at least 10 years.

Most of the time I don't have to sign though, so that makes up for it.

Other countries have had this for years. It's a more secure method. America is finally trying to catch up.

Pin and Chip has been the norm in Europe for a while, people look at me crazy when I tell them its a swipe card when I buy stuff.

We did a client appreciation luncheon and brought in a hacker to talk about protecting yourself from cyber attacks and scams. This guy has been hired by the gov't to do authorized break ins to the library of congress among other high level gov't agencies. He said that rfid chips are dangerous, because if not protected by a special wallet that he could lift your information just by walking by you. He had this little wand the grabs your info off the chip in two seconds. He also said that when he went to Disney world and had to wear that bracelet that it felt like a ticking time bomb on his arm because of the chip. Take it for what is worth.

I agree that it's dumb not to charge everything. We took a vacation almost for free from points a couple of years ago, going to book another one soon.

This is a scam shown to old people...There is more to it than just swiping a wand...

I do use a card for everything, it didn't fit my narrative though :(

I still feel judged though, will this be credit or debit. "It's credit lady, stop trying to announce to everyone"

Is that supposed to be an endorsement?

Not to mention the added security of disputing the charge if the seller rips you off.

Buying everyday things with a credit card and responsibly paying that off immediately is the worst thing since Al Qaeda, huh?
