That is kinda insane that it will cost a family of 4 almost $100 to visit the museum.

I'd imagine that's because you lived through one and not the other. Still both very tough to process but in very different ways.

Definitely, the holocaust is just something I studied in history books, so while still very sad, it didn't hit me like an event I was able to witness.

That's one museum I'll never visit. Too depressing. Would make me want to punch the nearest Muslim.

Wow. That whole collection of videos. So heartwarming and so sad all at the same time.

I hear on the radio today that the museum is going to cost 60 mil per year to operate. That's rediculous!

As far as admission, they're profiting off this plain and simple.

2.5M visitors/year breaks even

ETA:
Which means it has to be in the TOP 20 most visited museums/historic sites in the World just to break even.

Take that profiteering shite out of here.

This place will be incredible. I will gladly pay for admittance. I have only been moved to tears over an event twice in my life. 9/11 and Katrina. and 9/11 is the only one that still moves me emotionally. I will visit for sure

I'll never forget Brother Ray coming on TV during first period freshman religion at SPS to tell us that America had suffered a tragedy.

True. A high school senior would barely remember it.

I visited ground zero in May 2002. It was still a hole with flags and everything all around. It was numbing. That was enough for me.

When's the memorial for innocent people killed in Afghanistan and Iraq being built? Far more than 9/11 victims who supported the US Govt.

The site actually does a good job of not promoting anti-Islamic thoughts or hating the Middle East. In the lobby leading to the memorial, they have pictures from around the world showing people mourning the losses of 9/11. The mural was really one of the most memorable parts of my visit to the site last year.

When it came on the TV previewing videos that are sold in the souvenir shop everyone in there stopped to watch cause it was animated and looked like it wouldn't be that sad. Wasn't a dry eye in the room.

I was taken back with how very quiet people were when walking through the monument. There was a heavy sadness there. I got spooked a little when looking up at the freedom tower and there was a plane in the reflection of the windows coming in to land.

Loss elsewhere doesn't take away from the losses on 9/11.

Looks powerful. Really the first museum dedicated to a traumatic event that is still fresh in the minds as opposed to the Holocaust museum which is dedicated to a time that occurred before most of its visitors were born

Most of the people who visit this museum will probably remember where they were

I stopped it as soon as I realized it was about a father losing two sons. I can't handle that type of stuff.

If you're simple minded enough to think that a 9/11 museum thread is the place to ask things like "When's the memorial for innocent people killed in Afghanistan and Iraq being built?" then have at it. You're either a kid or a college professor.
