A part on the dishwasher broke and dryer stopped heating this past week. Dishwasher was an easy fix, it was the upper spray spinner that broke off. Ordered a new part.

My primary satisfaction came from diagnosing a faulty thermostat on our dryer that was causing it to spin, but not heat. Ordered a $7 part through Amazon Prime, installed it and now it's as hot as a furnace.

The PSA portion of this is if your dryer stops heating but keeps spinning, a simple digital multi-meter measuring resistance across just a few parts will tell you what you need to know and what part to order. A whole lot better than buying a new dryer.

I think he means continuity across the element. But you can see if the damn element is broken.

Nevermind I see he said thermostat. You can check continuity in that also. If no continuity the part is bad.

Like the temperature switch? That's the only thing I can think of putting the reader to.

Unplug the dryer, set the resistance on the multi-meter to a low level or auto, and put one lead on each plug on the part in question. If the part is broke you will not get a reading.

Yeah but I'd test it first before taking apart that claptrap. Sometimes it's a PITA to get out and see it all clearly.

Another reason a dryer won't dry is the lint exhaust at the exterior end is clogged up. Sometimes its clogged just below the lint tray also.
