No way they were going to wave the white flag on this one! Their justice system was not about to retreat to a safe haven when given an opportunity to demonstrate it's efficiency. Couldn't afford to backpedal this time.

You can actually look at us on the current state of Germany. I hate to say this as I am the last to be an American Apologist but... Germany has kicked arse and taken names for thousands of years until they outran their headlights with Hitler (a-hole) and we broke them down like a shotgun after WWII. I kind of respected their whole warrior ethos / national pride thing until they turned it on one particular group. Not to say they aren't great allies and all but they don't have the hard edge as a people that they had before we occupied them. Still a great place to visit and drink beer though.
