Shocked by the competency of federal govt.

Honestly, think about it. They're simply reprinting a document with information that doesn't change.

You're issued a completely new passport number. It's not like a drivers license.

We went to the post office here in Baton Rouge and got there at 4. They are supposed to quit taking people at 5 but the lady was nice and locked the doors and let us stay until we were processed. Got out of there about 5:30 Was told it would take 4-6 weeks and my Passport came in the mail yesterday, which has only been about 3 weeks.

I know I can get one in my hands in less than 12 hours if absolutely necessary, but that's not the case. It expires in a few months and I just want to have it taken care of before I forget.

It's a have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it kind of thing.

Just do what the poster above did then. If you don't do expedited, there is still a reasonable chance you'll have the new one in 2-3 weeks. I think mine arrived in 10-12 business days last time, and I didn't expedite.

It's expensive though.

But they are great. Highly recommend.
