Famous historical figures who studied other historical figures

Who is a famous person in history who is famous because they tried to emulate other famous people from history?
Mine would be Julius Caesar, or really any great Roman/Greek general post 300BC. All of those guys were basically trying to be Alexander the Great.
Also, the Founding Fathers of America basically just acted on ideas of John Locke

General George S. Patton. He predicted the Germans attacking throught the Ardennes because that is what Frederick the Great did (IIRC).

I nominate Bush the 2nd. His former press secretary claims in his tell-all, that Bush took us to war vs Iraq so he could be looked upon as a war-time president. press secretary said, Bush had the impression from his readings in US history that the presidents regarded as best all had been president during war-time.
No idea if the tell-all is the case. we do know that bush was a history buff.
