I thought that some of you might find this thread from the New Orleans subreddit interesting:

Frankly I think the OP may be out of line with his complaints, but I am not a young guy and don't know how the younger generations handle the anuses of their family and house guests.
I am, after a bit of consideration, against the notion of a "family cloth" though I hesitate to be overly judgmental.

Well, it's time for some education then my friend.
Family clothes are widely used across the south. It's not something most people talk about, but I'd guarantee you that you know a few people who are using this wonderful way to help promote Green solutions to Brown problems.

What do you do on those days when it's really bad and you almost go through a whole roll of tp? How big is said "family cloth," and how many people use it?

Geez man use some common sense. We treat it the same way the girls treat the washcloth they share when on periods. You wash it once a week and then hang it up near the toilet.

I was born and raised in the South and have NEVER met anyone who used "family cloth".

Well I'm not sure what kind of trailer parks you were prone to hanging out in, but in the solid lower middle class neighborhoods that I grew up in, Family clothes were the norm.
Even the Romans used to share toiletries, often using a single sponge for hundreds of people.
