How would you get from BR to Slidell on I-55?

Sales tax does not go to roads. Only gas and property tax.

No doubt. My two cents.

1.frick that westbound 22 heading to the Tchefuncta/Madisonville.
2.frick that 190/I-12 cluster frick at 5 pm
3.frick that 190 Bogue Falaya Bridge with one lane each direction- you're an idiot if you buying a house now and have to cross that bridge every day.

Fixed it for ya!!

22 west from Mande to Madisonville

100% solvable by adjusting the timing of the bridge and Madisonville red light. Guess those yacht owners on the tchefuncte don’t give a shite if it’s 5:00 and you’re trying to get home.

That intersection sees far too many cars to be controlled by a yield and single red light.

You’re telling me that 10.5% sales tax isn’t getting us any new roads??

Via 10?

So take 2 and half hours to go 80 miles.

I’m guessing you’ve never driven any of I-95 from Richmond, VA to Boston

Most of the people complaining that ours is the worst probably haven't left the state.

And... interstates are Federal, so whoever said LADOTD designed them is dead wrong.

They need to just add lanes to the bridge over Tchefunkta and make the 21 exit it's own lane getting on. That would resolve all traffic right there.

I live near the hospital, so I'm frequently on 21 in that area. It still gets very congested where the road narrows north of the hospital, but it's a breezee between the hospital and 12.

They should have put in three lanes all the way to 21st imho. Evidently, the issue revolved around culvert work on "Simpson Creek" - aka the ditch just before you get to the turn lane by CVS.
The irony is that by not spending the additional 500,000 on that spot, it has now become a choke point limiting the impact of some of the roadwork done to "assist" in traffic flow. I will agree though, yhat between I-12 and the turn lane by the hospitol, the traffic flow is much smoother.

Houston is a huge international port. Anything going to/from that port from any point east of New Orleans is going to be transported along I-12....which makes it an international freigh artery. There’s a lot more 18 wheelers on the road on I-12 than there are along I-10 between NO and BR

Its an interesting dynamic up here on the NS. All of these post Katrina transplants show up and immediately start throwing themselves on the floor like toddlers saying everyone is corrupt and that there is no planning with no acknowledgment whatsoever that they are what created this mess. When they designed Hwy 22 and 190 they didn't plan for 50,000 Plymouth Voyagers from Chalmette showing up almost overnight.
