Replacing hotel doors can be very expensive and often times, simply just an expense that the hotel is not willing to endure - they can't get anymore money on their daily rate by saying "we have new doors without peepholes."

After seeing the thread i had to refresh my memory of the video, it's on pornhub.

FWIW it looked like a key hole to me.
Some old renovated hotels still have the original doors with key holes intact. I just stayed at one in Durango, Co. last month.
