Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge

any word on when it'll go back down? I thought with gas at an all time low and natural gas has dropped a lot since August that the FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge would go down. Silly me.

$32 electricity charge
+
$47 FUEL ADJUSTMENT

re: Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge
I conserve electricity. H

-Heater has not been on once this year
-All newest energy efficient bulbs
-2' of insulation in attic
-attic tent door installed
-radiant barrier
-installing a tankless water heater in 2 weeks
-WATT tested all my appliances and whats plugged in, etc....

sad thing is my parents live in a bigger house up north where the electric heat is on 24-7, constantly washing clothes, etc...and their bill is only $55

I guess that will do it, my A/C is set on 63 as I post this.

How much do you plan to save per month after paying for all this?

re: Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge
its being done over time. Whenever I get the money a new project for energy effiency. I'm not worried about how much money is spent vs. savings. Just looking to conserve energy. I really hate giving money to Entergy.

Solar is still too expensive for me and nanosolar is not available yet.

re: Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge
But here is a rough estimate

-Energy efficient bulbs costs around $30 and thats for around 30 bulbs (energy savings in a year or less)
-30 bags for green fiber insulation was $130 (energy savings in about a year or less)
-Radiant barrier is $225 (package says price = energy savings in 2 yrs)
-Attic tent was $175 (package says price = energy savings in 2 yrs)
-Tankless hot water tank - energy savings in 3 years. Only about $150 more than a reg hot water tank

re: Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge
Entergy really should be investigated for some of their methods of selling the energy you are supposed pay for to other states then caliming they dont have enough energy for you so they buy energy back from the same people they just sold it to in order to sell it to you at an increased price of course. Knew a guy that was an executive with them that left because he found this practice immoral.

I hear ya. My cousin's house is about the same size and his electric bill is astronomical compared to mine. He does have a pool but still, he's paying about $500 months compared to my $250 range.

Lowes, buy 20 bags and renting the blowing machine is free.

I always use coupons when going to Lowes. Used 20% off coupons for the first 20 bags then used $10 off coupons when you spend $25 for the remaining.

Got a total of 30 bags and very easy to do. This time of year is the perfect time to do it

Screw Entergy. If that's not a monopoly, I don't know what is.

Wow, where did you get your tankless water heater? I assume you installed it yourself because plumbers charge about 2000 to install one.

re: Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge
Lowes has the PowerStar AE 125 for $688.00

PLumbing is simple its the electrical wiring that is tricky. Must have a 200 amp meter and 3 40 breakers to run it.

If you have gas in your house even better.

re: Entergy's FUEL ADJUSTMENT charge
why would you expect entergy to drop fuel adjustment? they have no reason not to drop it and they will ride the hurricane for as long as possible as a reason to keep bills high.

i have noticed alot of mini blackouts since the hurricane. weather is fine outside and power just goes off.
