Im pissed right now..
My wife has been coming home crying from her job because of her new employers that took over her company a year ago. It all started when her grandfather died and her sister called her while at work to tell her. She was obviously distraught her boss told her she could go home if she needed to. She took off one day for the funeral. Went back to work the next day.
Then she got her paycheck and discovered they charged her time for vacation, not sick, not time off for bereavement. VACATION. She inquired about it as there is no company handbook to go by and was plainly told
"Sick time is for the employee not to care for a family member"
Through all this she also worked an extra 6 days a year for these people unpaid. Because she had an agreement with the previous owner to do so who in return provided her with extra days off and even paid for her lunch on those extra days. New owners just take the 6 days from her with nothing in return.
She went to them with a concern about all this and had worked out an agreement to start off the next month as an hourly employee. She was happy about it to get paid for the time she worked. She gets zero benefits from the company and retains the same vacation and sick leave amount. She finally she was happy about her job.
Well apparently they reneged on that. They dont want to change her to hourly all of a sudden.
Wife is 10 years out of college with a degree and makes less than 35k a year. I make more than enough for both of us. Its taking a lot preventing me from going in there and pulling her out of there.
