We're sending 3000 troops to west africa to deal with it.

Oh and btw here in Malaysia they just quarantined a African who was showing signs of Ebola...

also I have no proof about Thailand - just word of mouth. Its called a COVER UP

This particular strain is spreading beyond Africa. We could be looking at a pandemic soon especially if it becomes airborne.

But but it's not going to spread outside of Africa!!1

Until someone actually catches the disease outside of Africa, it hasn't spread outside of Africa. Bringing those Aid workers to Atlanta after they were infected didn't constitute Ebola "spreading to the US".

Tried to click your link but didn't work. I don't think we are sending 3000 troops for Ebola. The army is rotating brigades to go to Africa for a 12 month rotation but that's for the horn is Africa which is on the opposite side. Nevermind I stand corrected. Still don't see why we need 3000 troops there to combat Ebola. Especially since dod is facing major cuts

I wondered if there would ever be another Bubonic plague. I guess there's still a chance.

no it is spread too slow. It is in an area of the world with millions of ppl and has only infected around 5,000 ppl. Bubonic plague infected and killed 50% of the population in some cases. Plus plague was spread by flea bites and Ebola is spread by contact with fluids.

How much money are you making out there? I mean, I'd literally have to be raking in 400k+ to even flirt with the idea of working over there.

alot of ppl are dying from it, almost 3,000 out of 5,000 infected. However in an area of the world with millions of ppl only 5,000 or so have been infected.

If Ebola reaches somewhere like Bangkok or Manila, watch out.

Lagos, Nigeria is probably one of the top 5 most populated cities in the world with around 17 million people. The first cast in Nigeria was reported back in July. Nigeria has had 22 confirmed cases with 8 deaths.

They're doing something right.

Thailand 67.01 million (2013)

So you mean the entire eastern hemisphere?

First off, "so many" is a stretch. More people die from a ton of other different diseases every year. We won't go down that list.

Second, the people who are dying from it are people who don't believe in science and/or are just not smart enough, don't have enough faith in their governments and healthcare systems to do anything about. Example, someone who gets confirmed to have ebola is placed in strict quarantine. They can't talk to their family, family can't talk to them. So, the person with ebola doesn't tell anyone and/or their family keeps them at home.

Throw in all the vomiting and shitting everywhere and bam, now the family has it.

So there you go, continue to be scared of nothing if you feel like it.

I work in Lagos. Have to get my temp checked daily when I get in for work. And yes I get paid handsomely for the risk. In Nigeria they did a good job isolating and stomping out the issue as far as I am told. I worry more about getting malaria than ebola over here.

Well, according to the OT, Lagos should be in flames and everyone should be dead by now.
