"Few people realize that Easter is not about the resurrection of Christ."

Even fewer realize that there are languages other than English in the world.

In Italy, today is Pasqua. In France, Pâques. In the Spanish speaking world, Pascua de Resurrección. In Greece, Páscha. Russia, Paskha. Turkey, Paskalya.

It's even more interesting to note that Easter in the Romance languages is derived from the Ancient Greek (páskha), Latin (pascha), and Hebrew word (pésakh) for Passover.

Italian - Pasqua
Spanish - Pascuas
Portuguese - Páscoa
French - Pâques
Romanian - Pasti
Catalan - Pasqua

EDIT: Bestbank Tiger beat me to it.

Thanks! Now can you tell us about the relationship between the story of Glilgamesh and Christianity?

You really have to suspend logic to believe the "scheme of imitation by Satan". A brilliant strategy? That's how this is spinned?

This precise belief was applied to Mary by the Roman Catholic Church,
but it is as pagan as it gets, and has no basis in the Bible whatsoever.

About 1.2 billion people will disagree with this.

Nah, the whole world us my English speaking country. I don't need to know anything more than 50 miles from me.

ETA: I didn't really beat you to it. You picked up three languages I missed.

I also noticed a glaring factual error in the last paragraph...

I was a liberal arts major; pretty much everything on Earth is an ancient pagan fertility symbol according to some of my profs, and any myth celebration or group activity you can think of was a pagan fertility ritual.

Thank you.

I'm not very religious anymore even though I grew up in a religious household. I've learned too much history and science to take it seriously. But that doesn't mean that some people don't need it in their lives and that it doesn't bring them hope and joy.

But god damn do I hate these smug atheists who poo-poo on everyone else with this superiority complex.

Dude, we get it, you are so much more enlightened and better than everyone and no one other than you has any sort of understanding. We should all bow down to your vast understanding gleaned from an afternoon on google.

People like that can be worse than fricking evangelists.

So, the Christians copied from other religions but it's not their fault?
