Dry needle

Strained my neck on my left side yesterday and have serious pain with muscle spasms associated with it. My cousin who is an IM doc says I need to see a PT and have them try dry needle kind of like acupuncture. Has anyone had it done?

Yep. Weird sensation. Was sore afterwards but it helped a ton

I had a calf injury two weeks ago that I went to the PT for. Got it dry needled and the improvement was massive in just a couple days. Could be placebo, but it was a major improvement quickly. Went from not being able to put any weight on it to running in three days.
Heads up that you will be extremely sore for a couple days and it is painful

Like anything else, will work for some people and not for others

Had it done on my back for 8 weeks. It's weird as hell and can leave you sore some days, but it damn sure releases the muscle. Major flexibility improvement and pain relief.
The problem for me is that it didn't last. Two days, and I was back to hurting again.

Works great if you can continue the treatment. I felt relief, no pain from treatment but it doesn't last long.

I had this type of procedure done multiple times over a 4 to 6 week period. End result? It didn't help me.
May work for some, but not for me.
