So what's your price to dump Spot?

I was in the vets office with my Yellow Lab female back in October. She was almost 2 at the time. She's a good dog but I am not super attached yet even though I trained her myself from a puppu. I mainly got her to be a breeder. Guy sitting in the waiting room with me could tell I was a duck hunter and probably hunted my dog so he started quizzing me about her, her training, background, etc. I knew that he was about to hit me up if I was interested in selling her and sure enough he offered me $3,500. I did the math as we were shooting the shite and thought if he offered me $5K I would consider it.

"That Beagle for sale?"

"No, but how much would you give me?"

"$50, if you throw in that NYC coffee mug."

"Sold.

That's pretty much exactly how it went down. I wasn't actively marketing the dog, but the lady had cash and that beagle was a pain in the arse. Worked out for everybody.

I've had my Chocolate lab for almost 11 years now, since she was 8 weeks old. I don't think I could send her off into the sunset with a stranger at this point, she deserves better. I know, idiot/just an animal, but I honestly give very little fricks about material wealth and my career salary fills my needs just fine. :truetalk:

Wouldn't happen for less than $10k, I know that much. At $10k I'd start considering.

I'd feel bad for doing it but I'd be over it in a few weeks.

90% of the time. Priceless.

....but there's a few hours a week, where I'd say: a nickel.
(digging holes in my yard, sprinting around the house with excitement out of the blue, fighting over food, annoying guests)

I truly love my dog, Jack. Never causes any problems, friends and family love him to death, doesn't shed, sleeps with me every night...just a 10/10 of a dog. But if someone offered me $1,500 cash on the spot, Jack is gone no questions asked.

From where I stand, nothing is enough.

Partially because I don't think I could escape the thought that someone weird enough to pay $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ money is probably sick enough to have done something horrible to the dog the moment he's out of my site.

That kicks in after considering the guilt of parting with him to begin with.

It's easier for me to say all this because even if I'm not a multi-billionaire, I'm financially stable. If my life was tattered and in ruins, and some serious shite was going on or could go wrong due to my lack of money, obviously the calculus changes. But don't think I could ever resort to it.

True story but my buddy's lab is a champion hunter and field trial dog. Has all the certificates and all. Some big wig at the field trial events was willing to write him a check for $20k for the dog and he turned him down because duck season was right around the corner

I could not sell my dog. She sleeps at the end of my bed, and she sits in my lap when I watch sports.
