I mean, we've been there last year and this is looking like it's gonna be even worse. I know there was a lot of talk about getting an action plan together for if something like the Flood ever happened again in this area.

We saw people trapped in attics and on roofs last year, and the main reason that there weren't more fatalities is because of selfless men and women risking life and limb for strangers.

Well now it's our neighbors in trouble. Is anyone else getting ready? Is the Cajun Navy going to Texas, and would it help?

ETA: was not talking about some Guy's Cajun Navy moneymaking scheme, which apparently is a thing. Screw that. I was just talking about the loose affiliation of coonasses who selflessly helped save people last year.

The official "Cajun Navy" marketing ploy that dude made all the money off of exploiting in the flood?

Or just good ole' baws who don't give a shite what they're called?

If the latter, they're already there

As long as they don't bring flags then yes.

I kid but I am sure folks would love to see some baws roll through.

I don't know anything about this. It was just kind of a moniker that stuck. Just people doing what they could to help people. But I rememeber people talking about prepping for if something like last year ever happened again.

ETA: Wait, is there an actual organization?

Nah, but there was a guy who made a Facebook page and sold shirts/stickers. I think he made out pretty well.

Eh, I guess that was inevitable. I just remember a bunch of the guys running the boats talking about it when we'd feed them during the flood last year.

They're gonna need manpower and boats and I'm sure a lot of their stuff is going to be underwater.

...and shirts...and flags...etc

Tried (maybe even did) copyright the name "Cajun Navy"

I don't even think the guy ever even stepped into a boat. He was some marketing guy with a photo portfolio of himself

Man that's shitty. I wasn't talking about anything like that. Just a bunch of coonasses with boats heading down there to help. Not any kind of money making scheme for someone.

Not sure about Cajun Navy but passed about 15 LDWF trucks with lights on pulling gear heading towards Texas yesterday morning.

I'm thinking about loading up the cook gear and heading somewhere to feed people if they rain us out. I just hate not being able to do anything when I know what they are going through

The term "cajun navy" should have been left alone as a colorful description of Louisianians helping their fellow Louisianians. Instead opportunists and the media have turned it into a thing. To the point now that baws getting into their pirogue to help folks because it's the right thing to do aught to tell anyone asking them if they're part of the Cajun Navy "naw, bruh." 90% of them baws aren't seeking any kind of recognition.

Anyone claiming to represent the Cajun Navy or collect money for the Cajun Navy is suspect.

I don't condone any of this. It was just a moniker for good people helping people.

Reportedly those Pirates take "Permission to Board" differently than most of us sailors.

The guy that has The Cajun Navy FB page is legit
IDK If they sold shirts, I do know they gave them away with a donation of any amount
He is also still working with people in LP, going above & beyond IMO
