Does Mucinex Work?

I am on the back side of the flu and want to accelerate hacking all of this snot out of my chest. Does Mucinex actually help with that? I really have no other symptoms left, so I am only asking about the plain expectorant.

Works better than nothing. Take 2. Also take some nasal decongestant.

I started smoking again recently and take Mucinex daily. Yes it works

It will give you a few hours of relief at a time from my experience

Works for me. My doctor actually told me to buy some for a nagging cough I had.

It does work, but be careful if you buy the generic. I got the Walgreens brand and had serious diahrrea from it that burned my skin up!!! Looked up the ingredients and it also contains polyethylene glycol, the ingredient in Miralax. Why that would be in the medication, don’t know. It is not in the brand name. Sent walgreens email and got no response. Never again!!!

I feel like taking it in combination with benydryl (which stops your body from c making the mucus) works the best.

It works great for me. Just drink lots of water because that helps to break it up and wash it out.

Guaifenesin is the active ingredient in virtually all expectorants, Including Mucinex. Any OTC expectorant can’t hurt with mucus and phlegm. Just use caution if you have asthma or ceratain lung or kidney disorders. The box is specific about which.

I've been taking it, and other meds, for a week. My kidneys started hurting sporadically today. Is this bad?
I did just cough up some phlegm that came from way down, so that's always a bonus. It was grey, so that might also be bad
