Does LSU still have those plug-in car chargers in the CEBA lot?

We have one at UNO, and a car is there for the first time in the 1.5 years I've been here. It is not in the regular parking lot, and out of the way of everything, but LSU decided to take up 2 or 3 (IIRC) spots for theirs. Do people even use them? Do you have to pay for the electricity when you charge your car?

Nope. They moved it over by the Coast & Environment building when they added the new B section in the CEBA lot. There's another one over by the Nat supposedly.

As far as I know, there are 5 or so registered users for the spaces, and there's no charge. It's a free service provided by Entergy.

I believe I saw a whole lot of them under the Perkins overpass a while back. Those could have easily been something else though

There was a Leaf there (CEBA lot) pretty much every time I drove by back when I worked in BR. Sometimes there were multiple, but the one that was always there I believe was a professor.

We just had two installed at our office, and there doesn't appear to be any sort of meter. I haven't gotten up close though. Fun fact, if you lease 2 Leafs at the same time, Nissan will install a level 2 charging station "free."

No. They moved them next to the dog friendly restaurants.

There are a ton of "Blink" chargers around my stomping grounds. As I understand it, you get an account with the provider, then you are give an account number (or a card...I don't know which they are doing now)...and you are charged for the electricity you use either by charge time or kWh used.

As a side note...Blink went bankrupt a year or so ago, and was bought out by Car Charging Group, Inc.

That's weird. I figured people would have to pay a fee like at the gas pump. Maybe they have an account and have to swipe a card?

I have a feeling in areas where those cars are more prevalent, that is likely the case.

I remember seeing a Nissan Leaf parked there most days that I walked by it. Saw a couple of other cars on occasion as well.

Yep, that was a professor's car. Between tax credits for buying it and free charging, his car expenses went down considerably.
