Does it make a difference with regards to UL@Laf, LSU, and LA Tech

My friend is a chemE, who attends LA tech, but he has decided that Ruston is a total shite hole. Will it make a difference for him if he chooses to finish his degree at UL instead of LA Tech or LSU?

Only when he wants to get his first job.

After your first job you are hired off of your experience and reputation.

I wouldn't move to Kentucky.

considering classes may not transfer I would stay at la tech

ULL would be by far a lesser choice as far as engineering goes.

all are good schools, but different industries typically focus on one school versus the other when hiring...your friend needs to check that out before making the decision...
fwiw, tech is a very good school but the problem with it is that credits from there are very difficult to transfer to other schools. if your friend has been at tech for very long, he needs to check this out, as it may also influence where he transfers to...

You get jobs by networking, the school you went to doesn't matter

if i decided to ignore college football and decide on living it up during college, ULL is the go-to #1
if i want legit CFB, then LSU
if i want to act pompous and like my opinion and my status matters more than it really does, LSU

Ruston is a fairly nice, clean, and safe college town. Specifically, why does he think it's a shite hole?
To answer your question, it prob wouldn't make a difference. LSU and ULL are closer to 'the plants' so as a chemE they may have recruiters visiting more often or more opportunities to interact with those companies, but prob not a huge difference in the credibility of the degree between the three.

Well he was an ME and got his pre req courses at BRCC he passed thermo at LSU last semester part of dual enrollment thing. This fall he went to LA Tech and switched to ChemE. He finished the first quarter and he just resigned because he hated living in Ruston it was just too slow of a town for him. Now he is trying to make up his mind where to go.

ULL tries to distance themselves from Lafayette, that should tell you something.
Imagine talking to someone not from a three parish area of south Louisiana and think about their reaction to your degree being from ULL or LSU. No contest.

Being too slow of a town and being a shite hole are two different things.
Sounds like he has a tough time making up his mind either way. Between BRCC, changing his mind so much, and worried more about the 'town' than his education...I doubt he finishes with an engineering degree from either of the three schools mentioned in the OP.

Right!!! Nothing is wrong with Ruston, I'm from BR but saw Ruston as an escape to slow down and really figure out things in Life and what is important.
Did he visit their before transferring, what were his expectations?

This just isn't true. I work for one of the top global oilfield companies and we actively recruit ULL engineering grads for positions all over the globe.

In terms of getting his first job, yes. He'll be at a disadvantage transferring to ULL. In fact, transferring to a school like ULL, unless he's a freshman or something, would be a bigger disadvantage than if he had started there. Going to a less competitive program like ULL can be okay, because if you're a big fish in a small pond, you can more easily impress your professors and maybe get them to go the extra mile in helping you network. But as a transfer student, he'll have less time to build those relationships.
