Came here to post same thing. I take care of 87.5% of all expenses, pay child support on top of that, and have my child 50/50 and she is still a "single mom." Yes....a little bitter, but it is annoying to hear that and I never tell anyone I'm a "single dad."

One of my coworkers is a single mom to a high schooler. Her ex pays for her house note and the child's tuition. She constantly is upset about being broke, but was sure happy to post about her new Coach purse on FB.

They don't wear it as a badge of honor. They want someone to feel sorry for them....either scenario is not positive

You live in an apartment complex but don't think you are trashy?

Yeah that makes no sense. That's just a personal choice really. Not everyone wants to be a homeowner, some prefer renting.

Yeah I guess everyone that lives in major cities like NYC or San Francisco or Chicago are all trash because most of them rent as well.

As much as I do judge Paige because we have a different lifestyle, apartment living was never one of the reasons.

Yeah if I was a single mom with one teenage boy....I would likely rather live in a really nice apt complex than deal with being a homeowner. I'm sure renting gives her the option of moving in the future as well...something she has expressed interest in.

I mean...I've never owned a home and I'm 36. Guess that makes me super trashy as well.

Single mom doesn't equal welfare queen but when a stranger self identifies as a single mom that's what I hear. It annoys me that society has decayed to the point that baby maker is widely accepted as a fricking career.

you think living in an apartment is trashy?

My rent is routinely more than my friends' mortgages. It's a preference

to be fair, being a stay at home mom is one of the hardest jobs in the world.

I could see a SAHM having a discussion with a neurosurgeon, the President, and an astronaut.

"Oh I know all about having a difficult job too, I'm a stay at home mother"
