Does every family have one loser?

I have a brother who is the laziest, most useless POS on the planet. He constantly takes advantage of my parents, and they are too naive to see it. My other siblings and I cringe when he's around.
The more I talk to people about it, the more common this seems. Any tips for dealing with the loser or, more importantly, my parents?

No one in my immediate family, but I definitely have some extended family that would fall into the "loser" category.

All of my family is very successful. They make boat loads of money, none of us are losers.
I mean, I don't make their kind of money, but I try pretty hard. One day I will probably find a job that will make that happen. I keep finding bosses that go out of their way to frick with me.

My family doesn't really have any losers, but it does have some really unpleasant people to interact with. namely my father, who when not drunk is an a-hole. When drunk, it varies.

My cousin is about to go to jail for stealing $10,000 worth of silver coins from my grandfather (who can't even wipe his own arse).
My other cousin took a $5,000 loan from my other grandfather to help him by a mobile home and he bought his wife a pair of tits.

I have a cousin who is an absolute drain on society. I try to get out of the one day I have to spend with that side of the family because of him.

Ne'er do well BIL who progressed from pot to crack to pain killers as his addictions. Lived 10 mins from his parents, hardly visited and when younger stole from them. Parents raised his daughter and his son both from diff women. He married again and just now seems to be only on pain killers and does visit some with new wife and daughter.
