Bro, what kind of king cakes are you buying? Or perhaps, what kind of poboys are you buying?

Randazzo’s, Mckensies, Gambinos, Don Phung (sp?), Maurice’s, Sucre, Haydels, and probably every grocery store to name the ones I can think of. My wife works for a Co with a pastry chef. He thought he could change my mind. Didn’t work.

I buy several a year for the family, office and clients. I eat maybe 2-3 small pieces total. Filled or not filled I just don’t like them. Don’t like the texture. Don’t like the overly sweet icing.

Would you happen to be a white person from some northern state that doesn’t season their food???

I grew up in Hawaii eating spicy Chinese food. I'm not some country bumpkin who thinks gravy and catsup should be slathered on everything (and I like chicken fried steak with white gravy). I don't believe in taking perfectly good seafood and fish and ruining it by frying it.

Most are just cinnamon rolls disguised as king cakes

It was suggested that I was a Yankee who doesn't season my food.

I love spicy and well-seasoned food. I don't like most food where some fat laden batter gives the food its flavor.

The batter is full of carbs, not fat.

Let me tell you a little bit about being a man. It doesn't matter what you think.

It doesn't matter if you like it or not. It's part of Louisiana heritage. It's part of the tradition that makes our state, our family and even yourself who they are.

You eat that damn king cake and tell everyone who will listen how great it is.

You come around here, or anywhere else for that matter, jiving negativity about king cakes and I'll drag your arse right to the damn sonic myself and beat you with a king cake like your daddy should of.

Are king cake cheeseburgers still a thing? I'd definitely try one if I had a chance but just looking at one nearly gave me cardiac arrest.

King cakes ARE NOT nasty. This, on the other hand...

Randazzos is from Metairie, and where do you think most other king cakes come from? If you're going to say something dumb, try to at least think it out a little bit beforehand.

Randazzo's is from St Bernard parish- originally Violet, but soon Chalmette/Meraux after that. The Metairie location didnt open until the 1990s by one of the disgruntled family members. They fight like their last name was Brennan or something.

Anyhow, the kingcake is damn good regardless if it's from Chalmette, Metairie, Slidell, or Covington locations.

all but Randazzo's

If he doesn't like how sweet they are from the drier type, these may be worse for him because they are so much sweeter. They are nice and moist though.

Antoine's has pretty much the same cake on the West Bank and use to be a lot easier than going to Randazzo's, but now they are super busy too.
