I know how to swim. I learned in USMC bootcamp, which was a bad decision, so that is not the issue. I feel completely out of place when swimming, though. It isn't fun at all. I also feel a little motion sickness if I stay in too long. I would rather not swim at all...ever.

Anyone else feel this way?

Is this trashy?

I’m not a fan of pools but I love swimming in lakes, rivers, and the beach

It’s fine for An afternoon but the folks who sit at the beach all week in the same spot and do nothing, I’ll never understand that..you could go see something new .. instead of just sitting by the water all week.

Learning from a Marine swim instructor is not the best way to cultivate a life long enjoyment of recreational water sports.

No, not at all.

I could stay above water at the time, but I didn't have any technique.

Here’s your problem, you subconsciously link swimming to misery.

I swim just about everyday in the summer and sit outside listening to the fountain both during the day and at night. Relaxing and a great workout and stress reliever.

I’m taking it that your MOS didn’t require much swimming?

No, it has nothing to do with the USMC. I never enjoyed the water before then too. As I said in another post, I could stay afloat, but I wouldn't call it swimming. The motion sickness I mentioned is miserable though...so yeah!

If you learn as a kid you might link it to fun
