A Dallas jury sentenced a neurosurgeon to life in prison after they heard from patient after patient who testified Christopher Duntsch seriously maimed them while they were under his knife.

That victim, Mary Efurd, was 74 in 2012 when she went under Duntsch's knife and lost a third of her blood and the full use of her legs.
"I trusted him," Efurd testified three weeks ago. "I trusted that he would do what was right."
But a doctor who treated Efurd after her botched surgery said Duntsch had "done virtually everything wrong." Dr. Robert Henderson found implants placed in muscle instead of on bone, a screw drilled into her spinal cavity and a nerve root that had been amputated.
"It's as egregious as you can imagine," Henderson said.

wow. Screw that guy so hard. I feel as though life in prison isn't bad enough. Perhaps they should let an OT doctor perform "surgery" on him

Sounded like a budding Frank Abagnale, Jr.

I've never been in an OR and I know you anchor implants to bone. This dude must be on some self prescribed drugs.

He should get surgery without the anesthesia.

There has to be more to this story. Was the doctor just whacked out on pain meds himself?

What do you call a person that finishes at the bottom in class rank at med school?
Doctor

A lot more to the story, he had poor patient outcomes and Baylor administration covered them up because there is a lot of money in spine. His procedures were so below standard practice during peer review they thought he was an imposter and called University of Tennessee to make sure he really was a physician.
He's known well in the Dallas metroplex, word was he was drinking before surgery, staff allegedly found a 5th of liquor in his office as well as other paraphernalia.

Evidently this is one situation in which the old adage doesn't apply.

What is considered drinking paraphernalia?
