I know, I know, everyone hates Facebook. But for those who have it, are you one of those people who tell everyone happy birthday? Every year the same people who never talk to me all write on my timeline and then I, reluctantly, have to write this dumb fricking post thanking them.

TLDR: I'm just a grumpy a-hole who thinks Facebook is destroying the phrase "Happy Birthday" and turning it into a job

No. People I care about get a card, call or text; not some meaningless fb post.

If it's someone that I actually talk to regularly, sure. Not for every random acquaintance that is on my feed though.

ETA: I also will call or say it in person too. The FB post is juts to let them know I went the extra mile

This is basically what I do and if I really give a shite about them I will shoot them a text or an actual message.

When it is my birthday and I get a bunch of well wishes on my wall I generally just like it instead of commenting.

I pretty much ignore 99% of the notifications about the birthdays of guy friends because there is really no way to post happy birthday from one guy to another without it looking/sounding awkward.

"Happy birthday" sounds like it was a chore.

"Happy birthday!" ehhh

"Happy birthday!!" even worse

"Happy birthday man" oh now it is getting really awkward. Man? wtf?

A lot easier just to ignore it and send them an inappropriate meme or gif in a text.

Rarely. I actually send a text the day of and I've already mailed them a birthday card.

I don't. If I know the person well, I'll call them, or text or something.

Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't.

Heaven forbid someone just try to be nice and wish someone else hbd. How dare they inconvenience you by having to make you take a finger and tap on "like"!
