Do you make deals with your kids to get them to behave?

I'm watching the in-laws do this right now and Holy shite is it pathetic.

They've just wasted an hour going back and forth with their 10 year old for him do to a mundane task. Now they're down to rewarding him if he does what they initially asked him to do an hour ago.

Talk about freaking pathetic. No wonder kids today are so shitty.

It's like people think that misbehaving kids is a modern phenomenon.

No..... My kid is 5 and I nipped that crap early. If they are acting like an @$$ I either clear my throat or ask 'is there a problem?'

My kid will stop in their tracks and problem is solved. I'm the adult and I will never understand how parents will allow their children to run over them.

That is pathetic. Now I'm not a parent but I think it's cool when a parent incentivises getting good grades in school. A little extra motivation can't hurt.

I don't have to use a carrot or a stick. Mine do what is asked because of the way we raised them.

Now MY old man would beat my arse. He didn't have carrots.

I watched my Aunt do it for years with my cousins. And now as adults they're both lazy as frick because they expect someone to do it for them if they don't feel like it.

How did they learn this meant bad news?

I can tell you a 2 year old won't even notice these things, so it's not like this worked from the start.

When did this become an option? I would've had my arse beat if I didn t do something that was "asked".

It started when they were around two. It was all about tone. I think I have spanked my child three times at the most.

My kid isn't bad overall to be honest. you get the upper hand on kids early and show then who is the adult and there is a high chance your kid won't become an a$$hole.
