Well you are wrong. Just accept that. We are telling you from experience you are wrong. One should not speak in absolutes when they do not know

Then for you, not so much...

For the kid who only has High School and College, and this is their first big person job, I look for a high school

or y'all have shitty formats

Or we have a lot of accomplishments and certificates that mean a hell of a lot more than if your parents paid money to send you to a private school. I seriously doubt I'd give a frick if someone put my high school on their resume and would really raise an eyebrow if anything.

Extra certifications, licenses, awards, community involvement...it gets lengthy and means more than where you went to high school.

And, I get it, if you're in New Orleans, it helps that you went to Jesuit.

See, you are wrong though. Dont be mad when a Jesuit kid in NOLA gets hired over you simply because he went to Jesuit and so does the hiring manager. It doesnt make sense but it is reality

I really wouldn't want to work for a person who only took into account the exact geography I grew up in as well as how much money my parents had. That's all having a high school on your resume tells people. It's really just trashy to bring it up once you have a college degree.

See, you keep saying this. I dont think you understand some of the public schools we were zoned in. Mine for example, got closed down because their high school graduation rate was under 50%. The college rate of grads was around 10%. So once again, stop talking about things in which you do not know

Exactly. Putting your high school on your resume I think can only hurt you. All it says at best is "My parents have a lot of money to send me to a nice school". The only time your high school GPA matters is when you're trying to get into college, and that's literally it. No online application asks for your high school information or GPA. I'd say it's borderline retarded to put your high school on your resume if you have a college degree.

I love blank statements like this, because they are always false. Every single time.

It just seems out of place, imo. Or, as a way to fill up space, like "Hobbies and Interests".

This is how I see it. If it's on your resume and your resume is a page, it tells me you lack experience. If your resume is more than one page, then it comes across as an unnecessary space filler.

Bingo. I'm not from Louisiana, but this just seems like pure insanity to me to put your high school on there, even if that high school is McCallie or Baylor. It only tells me your parents have money and what general geography you grew up in. I'm much more likely to hire someone who grew up poor, went to a po-dunk school, and busted his arse to get a full ride in a college than a rich prick who went to Jesuit and then half assed his way through LSU.

You're mighty worked up about this.

Who the frick would want to work for you when you simply hire someone based on how much money their parents make? Doesn't seem like a major loss.

It's much better to hire someone with connections and has the background to network and is familiar with certain people in certain circles

especially if we're talking about politics and or sales

You think every kid that went to private school has rich parents?

There's no way you're not trolling. I'm a little slow to recognize it sometimes. Well done, sir.

Maybe it is in Coonass land, but 99% of the nation doesn't give a frick, since all it says is my parents do/don't have money and the general geography you grew up in. I've never, ever seen a college graduate with resume that listed a high school on it.

What else does it say then? Yeah, you may have gone to a good high school and made decent grades, but you then go to college and then do shitty from that point forward.

I went to a private school, and then going to college taught me that that meant jack shite in the long run.

Eh, I'm hiring the kid who grew up rich, can golf, and can drink. He's used to success, and will know how to handle it better when it inevitably comes his way.

It doesn't bother, it's just no one else has bothered to explain what it brings to the table.
