A female coworker/friend was making an invitee list and asked if I would like to come.

I flat out said no. Now I feel bad about it. I will still give a gift card though.

That's a female thing, she just asked to get a gift out of you

Yes, I enjoy giving people a present for their unprotected sex.

I didn't even go to the one we had for our first kid, went and played golf instead. My wife even agrees it's a little weird for dudes to be at these events.

I feel like it's become more common for men to go to those things, but I don't get it.

No. It's another one of those "I'm gonna pick out what I want you to get me" parties.

The only time I've seen men who are not the father at a baby shower is maybe when it's a work shower happening during the workday. Definitely not something you should feel badly about for skipping.

Seems all my wife's friends that are having babies now, are doing coed baby showers. I hate it. Ends up all the husbands in one room drinking beer and hoping some sport event is on and the women in the other opening presents and gossiping....

This should be just for the ladies and all the guys can go play golf, if they want to.

You did the right thing. No man should attend a baby shower, not even his own wife's.

And the couples baby shower thing is the female slant to make their man attend. Baby showers are for the ladies, period.
