Naw baw my shite still gets hard as steel.

But seriously, had daughters so now I'm all mushy on shite that would have 27 year old me shaking his head in disgust.

Yes, I have turned into a "server" type and want to do stuff for others rather than myself. Maybe it has to do with being closer to the end and seeing things differently than when a younger person.

You get more humble, understanding, and a better feeling on the overall picture of life. Going through the breeding stage of life isn't really fun if you like to learn and progress.

Yes, on some things. No, on some things. So far I'm becoming more passionate for people and less passionate for government.

Same with me I have found that the things that piss me off when I was younger really pissed me off now. I found myself to be less selfish and more willing to help others. My oldest son started college this year so one part of me was like yeah go out and party and enjoy yourself in another part of me felt like I was losing my best friend

Yesterday my almost 4 year old cleaned his room like i've never seen before. He had crap everywhere, and i told him he couldn't play on the tablet before bed like he usually does until he cleans it. Figured he didn't give a shite. 20 minutes later he comes out and says his room is clean. I go in to inspect it and it was spotless. Could not believe it. I was so proud and happy i almost got teary eyed. felt silly that this was making me have the feels, but i was legit proud of him.

On a side note, i was told by an old lady to go to hell b/c i didn't want to give her money back for something she bought at an estate sale b/c it was broken (even though I know for a fact it wasn't broken when she bought it). She was rather rude about it and gave me a sob story about losing everything in the flood, which i responded to "i don't give a shite about that". That's when she said i should go to hell and God is going to get me. I told her i'll see you there, now get the frick out of here.

Not sure it's age as much as life's learning curve, finding out you're not bullet proof, and bad shite happens to good people for no apparent reason whatsoever. It's learning that all that superficial shite you thought was really important is really just a bunch of nonsense, and what really matters is people and especially family and friends, but really just people, even those who are still scratching and clawing for that same nonsense you once thought was so important to a happy life. It's realizing that everything is just dirt except people, and that there is and has got to be something more important to living life than the ant farm we all live in.

In short, empathy for others comes from actually experiencing life for yourself.

I find myself singing the Tomotoa song from Moana to my daughter every morning. And, it makes me tear up. So, yes. I'm getting soft. I don't think it's a bad thing. I'll still drink and snort coke, fight and destroy personal property with the best of'em.

Your testosterone declines with age.

Your sappiness goes up.

They are inversely proportional.
