Do paramedics and firefighters really give people blankets like in the movies?

I always see people on the curb wrapped in a big soft blanket. Is that real or just Hollywood ?

If it's hot can one opt for a snowball?

I know of no self-respecting firefighter whose first impulse would be to cover up a naked or scantily-clad woman.

Yeah. Even if we get mugged on a hot summer day.

Yeah man. People are traumatized. Their in a period of distress. A blanket helps.

I know a few that would feel the same about a man too.

There are no blankets on any firefighter truck in New Orleans. EMS units carry hypothermia blankets to lower internal body temperatures. But there are no warm fuzzy blankets on any unit.
However, Red Cross, which shows up to every fire that is an occupied dwelling, does have blankets to warm people in winter conditions.

Maybe I misunderstood your question. You were talking about strictly at a fire scene? Fire Dept I work for runs ambulance also, basically you rotate out, one shift ambulance, next shift fire truck, next shift rescue truck. We keep blankets on ambulance although not warm and fuzzy blankets When wheeling people out on stretcher we cover them up with a blanket.

No kidding. They used to be called Firemen, then they changed their title to "Firefighter" (name yourself after the part of your job that you do MAYBE 1% of the time, but okay...) in an attempt to appear more masculine.
"Firefighter" is the fireman's beard, if you will.
