Do any of you actually get "offended"?

Being "offended" and announcing it to the world may be the most pussified thing I've seen in this country. Now, I'm not that old, but the idea that a statue or words can harm someone's life in a way that doesn't allow them to live as they otherwise normally would is unfathomable to me. We're on this earth for 90 years if we're lucky. How someone is such a weak piece of shite that they spend valuable time of their life protesting and demanding an inanimate object or word no longer be used because it hurts their feelings amazes me. Tell me you fricked my mother or hope my family dies. I'll tell you you're an a-hole, but at the end of the day, they're frickING WORDS. You didn't physically harm me. You probably pissed me off, but I have better things in life to worry about than the noises leaving your mouth.

I'm a white man that doesn't really care about politics, gonna take ALOT to offend me. Plus I was taught as a kid that words will never hurt me.

Today in class studying Frederick Douglass:

White kid: He looks like Einstein.

Me: Black Einstein?

Black kid: *smacks, shakes his head*

Me: I'm sorry, does that offend you?

Black kid: No, I just can't believe he said it.

I mean, if it's a statue of a slave owner whipping a slave, yeah that can be offensive.

But a statue of some dude who owned slaves when half or more of the country did, not so much.

Only when I encounter microaggressions.

Takes me a while to work through it in my safe space.

At no point in American history did over half the country own slaves.

Now, there were roughly the same number of slave states as free states, if that is what you are alluding to.

Very good. Getting ready to send that to some of my constantly offended family members.

Nope. I'm a relatively mature adult who doesn't have the sociopathic urge to ruin the collective strength of society to get what I want by letting every "offended" person have power

Yep, slaves were an unaffordable luxury to the majority of the white, Southern population.

No.

As a certain African American helo pilot on the poliboard said, "how easily a person is offended is inversely proportional to their intelligence".

I simply don't have the time to be offended. All people say rude sh*t all day, literally in every place imaginable. If I walked around "being offended", I'd simply be unemployed and worthless to anyone in society. Part of being an adult is knowing that no one really gives a rats fuzzy arse about your opinion or your feelings.
